EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Callan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Creighton University before completing his dental education at the University of Iowa. He received his master’s degree in orthodontics from the University of Michigan, fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming an orthodontist. He is preparing to be board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.  Dr. Callan works full time at the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry Department as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  He splits his time between teaching orthodontics to the next generation of orthodontists as well as working in the Orthodontic Department Private Practice within the University.

BEYOND THE OFFICE

In addition to supporting local schools and organizations, Dr. Callan also travels to impoverished countries 2-3 times a year through Medical Teams International to provide dental care to people in need. He usually travels to Cambodia twice a year to work in the orphanages, and has also been to the Philippines, Haiti, and South Africa, among others.

 

Dr. Callan and his wife, Laurie, have been married since 1985. They have three children, Kate, Laura and Will, and they enjoy spending time together at school and church functions. They also participate in outdoor activities, such as skiing, bicycling and running.
